Assessment of Absorbed Radiation Dose of Some Soft and Hard Oral Tissues after Panoramic and Cone Beam CT Radiograph

Purpose: The goal of the this study is to measure absorbed dose oral tissues such as mucosa, salivary gland and bone after exposure ionizing radiation through panoramic radiograph cone beam CT. Subjects Methods: about 50 Egyptian patients were selected in who referred department medicine, periodontology, diagnosis & radiology, Faculties Dental Medicine, Al-Azhar university for or examination various dental purposes. Patients divided into two groups (25 each). First Group was subjected second one examination. systems used a Planmeca Viso CBCT Orthopantomogram OP-100 panorama. Assessment patient done by thermo-luminescent dosimeter (TLD) on patients. then recorded. Data analyzed, statistical calculations performed. Results: skin doses ranged between (130 μGy, 2817.8 μGy) panorama (327.99 11994 exposure. When digital unit compared, imaging 25-37% CBCT. Parotid mucosa greatest all are considerably higher than those unit. Conclusion: prospective benefits maxillofacial disciplinary undoubted; but, it important that their use be totally justified above conventional technique before they done.
